Christian Brothers Academy

Christian Brothers Academy, a college preparatory Catholic School in the Lasallian tradition, provides young men in grades six through twelve with a balanced education through challenging academic and broad co-curricular programs in a safe, faith-filled environment.  Sponsored by the Brothers of the Christian Schools,CBA is committed to meeting the needs of the individual, developing his full potential and guiding him toward his role as a successful member of society.  The teachings of the Catholic Church, the traditions of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and the principles of American citizenship form the foundation of the school’s Educational Philosophy.
CBA prides itself on academic excellence, offering courses on the NYS Regents, Honors and Advanced Placement levels.   Our challenging curriculum extends beyond the classroom walls.  CBA is the only private high school in the Capital District to offer students the opportunity to study Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in collaboration with the University at Albany’s Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering, as well as offering “College in the High School Program” in partnership with Hudson Valley Community College.
  • Our most recent graduating class received $6.7 million dollars in college scholarships.
  • CBA’s foreign language students traveled to Spain last spring, and plan to visit Italy in the coming year.
  • CBA has a 100% college acceptance rate.
  • Two of our students were recently honored as Commended Students by the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.
  • Currently there are seven CBA graduates enrolled at the United States Military Academy at West Point – voted one of the top five academic schools in the country by Forbes magazine.
  • CBA offers a wide range of activities, clubs and athletics. Our students continue their tradition of high achievement while participating in extra-curricular activities:
  • CBA received the Scholar/Athlete School of Distinction by the New York Public High School Association, 2009-2010.  CBA was one of only 13 schools in New York State to receive this honor.
  • In 2010, the varsity basketball team won the New York Class AA State Championship.

  • The Forensics Team has won numerous regional and national awards including the Albany County Mock Trial Championship and the National Forensics League of Excellence Award.
  • CBA is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents, the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and the high school JROTC program, and as an Honor Unit with Distinction by the United States Department of the Army.
