La Salle Institute

For over 160 years, La Salle Institute has been a cornerstone of Capital Region education. La Salle has witnessed many changes since its inception, including a move from downtown Troy to North Greenbush during Troy’s urban renewal period. Throughout it all, La Salle Institute has held true to a method and a mission: a Christian, student-centered education which focuses on each person’s intrinsic value and dignity; and ensuring the entire La Salle experience is dedicated to the student’s mental, physical, moral, and spiritual development—now and beyond the classroom.

La Salle provides small class sizes with personalized attention to every student, a commitment Lasallian education has embraced since its inception in the late 1600’s. This model creates an atmosphere where all students are encouraged to succeed—inspired by their teachers as well as their peers. An exclusive benefit La Salle enjoys is its proximity to Hudson Valley Community College. La Salle Institute is situated adjacent to HVCC, and students daily cross a paved walkway joining the two campuses. Every morning, many La Salle students share HVCC’s stellar engineering, science, and humanities classes with regional college students, and these credits—as well as the experience gained—transfer to many of the best  colleges throughout the country.

La Salle students receive constant personal interaction through our guidance department to ensure the best college choices for each student and his family. It is no surprise, then, that La Salle Institute enjoys 100% college acceptance, and has for quite a long time.  La Salle is a college preparatory school, and we do hope all our students use La Salle as a springboard to the perfect college experience. La Salle Institute provides something else as well—moral development—which will guide our boys as they become strong men of character and substance.  This is the legacy of La Salle Institute.  A man of strong character, prepared to face the difficulties of life, is the hallmark of a Lasallian education.
