What We Do

Shelters of Saratoga

Shelters of Saratoga, Inc. (SOS) has been in operation since 1991.  Formed to address a strong unmet community need, SOS has evolved from St. Clement’s Church basement, to a mobile home for 8 homeless men, to its current emergency shelter location at 14 Walworth Street in Saratoga Springs, which opened in January 1997.  Currently the shelter has 18 beds serving homeless adult men and women.

Beyond food and housing, SOS additionally provides shelter guests:

  • Case management services
  • Referrals to appropriate community services and resources
  • The road to self-sufficiency
  • Positive social interaction
  • Accountability

Our scope has broadened to include neighborhood revitalization, affordable housing, mobile outreach, and transitional housing.

As SOS continues to grow and expand, we have begun the process of establishing a new structure that will allow SOS to provide increased services for individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
