MCLA is the Commonwealth’s public liberal arts college of the Massachusetts State University System. For the third consecutive year, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts was named as a Top 10 Public Liberal Arts College in a list of 2014 rankings by U.S. News and World Report.

• MCLA is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC), a national consortium of visionary public institutions working to advance and promote the mission and distinctive role of the liberal arts in public higher education; our 26 COPLAC partners include Keene State College, the University of North Carolina, Asheville, and St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

• MCLA has been designated by U.S. News & World Report as a Top 10 Public Liberal Arts College annually since 2011.

• The College is recognized on the President’s Honor Roll for Service by the Corporation for National and Community Service.

• MCLA is a Division III NCAA athletics program that promotes excellence in academics and athletics, and encourages student-athletes to develop leadership skills on and off the field. Our women’s soccer team has earned annual recognition for ethics from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for the past five years.

Access and Affordability

•     The College distributes over $17 million in federal and state financial aid annually.

•     In addition, private donors provide generous financial aid and scholarship support.

•     73% of students receive some form of need-based aid.

•     49% of students qualify as low-income and are eligible for federal Pell grants
