The Center for Disability Services, known as the place where people get better at life, is one of upstate New York’s largest providers of programs and services for individuals who have disabilities. The Center has many resources and will assist families with:
- More than 80 locations, serving people in 14 counties— its main site is located in Albany
- Center Health Care for primary care, specialty medical services, dental, neurology, behavioral health and therapy.
- Langan School for students who have special needs– 5 to 21 years of age
- Affiliations with more than 50 area school districts
- Comprehensive and individualized special education and job training programs
- After school and summer programs
- Nationally accredited M.O.V.E program (Mobility Opportunities Via Education) for children; M.O.V.E. (Mobility Opportunities Via Experience) program for adults
- R.A.A.V.E. (Responsibly Addressing Autism Via Education) classrooms
- Early intervention services–in home and on site
- CloverPatch Preschool programs in Albany, Glenville, Amsterdam, Johnstown and Gloversville
- Employment Options for supported employment placement, training, support
- Programs and services to help aging parents/grandparents
- Accessible Home Solutions for consultations, modifications and remodeling
- Upstate Rehabilitation Products for mobility and specialized equipment
- St. Margaret’s Center, a pediatric and young adult skilled nursing facility
- Commercial Services for cost effective mailing and other services; it employs individuals who have disabilities along side those who do not
- Service Coordination which provides advocacy and a link to resources for nearly 1,000 individuals annually
- Clover Patch Camp in Glenville, a fully accessible overnight summer camp with sessions for children and adults with disabilities
- Camp Spectacular, a day camp program for children with autism spectrum disorders
- Residential services including 53 supervised residential sites, as well as supported apartments
- Respite services: day, night, weekend and vacation
- Transportation services with the Center’s own fleet of buses and vans
The Center for Disability Services has been the Capital Region’s premier resource for children and adults with disabilities and chronic medical conditions for 70 years. The Center’s array of superior, innovative and individualized programs and services
has had a positive impact on the lives of hundreds of thousands of children, adults and their families.
