Professional Clinical Experience

Duties included administering a battery of psychological tests for disability determination, as well as completing the psychological report.  Assessments typically take 4-6 hours to complete depending on the instruments administered.

 

Intake Specialist/Outpatient Therapist, Pathways, Inc., 300 Foxglove Drive, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353.

January 2005-July 2007

Responsibilities included completing comprehensive intakes for child and adult clients, including five axis diagnoses, appropriate referral to staff psychologist, and assigning therapist to each case. Also conducted group therapy for two groups: an anxiety group and a gay and lesbian group.   Also provided group therapy to the chronically mentally ill adult day program.  Additional duties included maintaining a caseload of 20-30 clients, completing emergency assessments (walk-ins, hospital emergency room, and county jail), conducting divorce parent education workshops, developing and conducting parenting classes, and providing consultation to other staff and community members.  Conducted two in-service workshops focusing on providing ethical therapeutic services to sexual minority clients.

Duties included assisting clinic director in clinical and administrative responsibilities.  Was responsible for facilitating weekly clinic staff meetings, case assignments and clinical supervision of counselors.  Provided training for all new clinical staff and supervision of undergraduate interns.  Also provided supervision consultation to counselors working with gay, lesbian, and bisexual clients.  Duties also included emergency response for counselors on call, as well as preparation of various office and departmental monthly and yearly reports.

Responsibilities included the coordination of education and training in alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention for adults and adolescents in both the school and community environments. Provided Natural Helpers training to more than three hundred students and teachers, as well as planning all aspects of the training conferences. Was responsible for the education and mentorships for all gifted students in grades nine through twelve in three middle schools and three high schools.  Also assisted the Drug Free Schools Coordinator with county-wide alcohol and drug prevention training and programming.
